Piston & Cylinder Engineering
The piston & cylinder engineered for HPFP upgrade is a constant diameter design; meaning it maintains the outer size through the entire piston shaft. This ensures no displacement change occurs on the bottom side of the piston and protects against pressurized pulses against the shaft seal. After testing many pump designs, IE engineers determined this feature necessary for long reliable pump operation. Be wary of pump designs with a stepped diameter engineered to use the factory seal as a cost saving design. We have found these units reduce the contact between the pin and cylinder by over 50% which greatly increases wear, pin leakage, and instability of the pin stroke.

Leak Free Seal
To prevent fuel leaking past the HPFP seal and into the crankcase, our HPFP upgrade includes a molybdenum disulphide seal used for it's stiffness and reduced friction characteristics. To further reduce the chance of failure, the seal is spring energized to provide constant outward pressure, even as the seal ages. What may seem like a small feature -in reality provides a reliable and long-life HPFP upgrade.
